A Day With Tony

David's brother Tony is a Com. Car Driver in Canberra and he was one of many drivers and cars brought from other states to drive all the 'important people and their back up crews' around while CHOGM was on in Perth and the Queen in Perth also.   On Saturday 29th October Tony had a day off from his official duties so David picked him up from his inner city accommodation and we took him sight seeing around the Perth Hills.
First we went to the Lesmurdie Falls near Kalamunda, on the Zig Zag Scenic Drive, Mundaring Weir and a short visit to Melville's Rose Gardens just to show Tony.   By then it was time to return to the caravan for something to eat before David took Tony back to his room for the night as most mornings he needed to be on call from 5am!!!
Once again we enjoyed driving around the Perth Hills - a beautiful area.

Lesmurdie Falls

Lesmurdie Falls National Park is located on the escarpment 20 kilometres east/south-east of Perth. The Park covers 56 hectares and is only 5 kilometres from Kalamunda. 
Lesmurdie Brook flows through this small park, with Lesmurdie Falls tumbling 50 metres over the sheer face of the Darling Scarp. The terrain is steep granite rock, ensuring plenty of vantage points along the walking trails. On a clear day, from lookout points on the steep walkways that wander through the park, the flat land of the coastal plain sweeps the eye out over Perth city to Rottnest Island on the western horizon. 

The Zig Zag Scenic Drive - this was an interesting road on the city side of Perth Hills that went from the top to the bottom - a one way road only.

Located in natural bushland in the Perth Hills, Mundaring Weir is one of the world’s greatest engineering projects.
Completed in 1903, the Weir was the start of the water pipeline that pumped water to the Kalgoorlie goldfields, some 700 kilometres away.
